This show just went on hiatus until next summer, but it is an excellent show that I don't think most people know about. There's not a HUGE overriding story that you couldn't get into the show at any time. It's about a Wyoming Sheriff that does most things the old fashioned way...you know, real cop work...and isn't afraid to knock someone out if need be.
Also just went on hiatus for next year, Suits is just a witty, fast-paced, well-written show that I greatly respect for taking what would have dragged out for years and pretty much took care of it in the first season (the fact that the guy on the right doesn't have a law degree and he could have been caught at any time). If you like buddy comedies and movies with quick-fire banter, this one's for you.
Hands down the funniest show on TV. PERIOD. Also probably the most politically incorrect as well. Almost every episode I have to pause the DVR because I'm laughing too hard. The first two seasons are on Netflix streaming and I watch them on almost constant repeat. It is just that damn good.
First of the well-knowns that you may not be watching. Coming in a few weeks is it's 3rd season premiere. It still definitely has Scorcese's stamp all over it, but it really has taken on a life of it's own. It blends real-life history and fiction flawlessly and never gets dull. The acting is all top-notch and shocks happen in most episodes. If you like Mob movies, you'll like this one.
The Little Engine That Could. This one has been on the chopping block for 3 seasons and I'm still unsure why the ratings are so low. Extremely intelligent, well-acted, well-written and after season 2 has one of the greatest Mythos in Sci-Fi TV that hasn't gotten so far-fetched that you're rolling your eyes. The fact that this season is its last is bittersweet to me. I love the show and hate to see it go, but I'm glad it won't get a chance to "jump the shark".
The other well-known you might not be watching. Most people just don't know what it is about and therefore are unsure of it. I've heard it compared to "Lord Of The Rings", but I think that's just because of who was in the first season. It is absolutely the best adaptation of a book I've ever seen. It follows VERY close, like word-for-word close, most of the time. Another one with a great Mythos that just makes the show so enjoyable.
It's been called a "Friends" clone (which they happily made a joke about in one episode), which I totally see, but is that such a bad thing? I don't think it is. It's not quite as good as "Friends" was, but it is still a very funny show with a very funny cast.
The final episode of this season is airing next week and I hope you watch. At first I just thought it was going to be another "House", but it is very different. You understand why he really can't cope with others and the crimes that he solves are really very interesting and inventive. More importantly, the character that Erik McCormack plays is actually growing and changing instead of being a sorta stagnant asshole like House.
Just a fun show. This is what a prime-time soap should be. People glaring daggers at each other and passively aggressively saying snide remarks until someone blows up. It's a popcorn drama that is just a good escape. I'm sure it will "jump the shark" soon as they start to expand the revenge plot past this small community (they have to go SOMEWHERE with this now), but it's fun for now.
I loved "My Name Is Earl" and I love this one too. It's just quirky, fun, and incredibly sweet. If you've never known white trash like this, you really have never known white trash. The great thing about it is, I never feel like you're supposed to feel sorry for them or that they're being looked down on.
Well, that's the list. I coulda added a bunch more like Big Bang Theory, Walking Dead, or American Horror Story, but I figured that most people I know are already watching those. Mebbe I shoulda put AHS though. Just for the sheer balls they have to do it like a mini-series every year where they use a whole new location, story, and even time period and with a new cast to boot. Awesome!
